Emergency Support Program
A rapid-response program designed to provide immediate virtual mental wellness and surge capacity during community-wide emergencies.
When to Activate
Community-wide evacuations (fire, flood, etc.)
Critical incidents or community tragedies
Sudden and collective loss
Overwhelming demand on local support services
How it Works
Activation: A simple, direct request from community leadership, health directors, or emergency managers activates the Noojimo Health team.
Warm Intake: Our "Office Auntie" and coordination team work with community liaisons to establish a clear, simple, and private process for community members to access care.
Rapid Connection: Community members are quickly matched with an appropriate Indigenous mental health professional from our circle.
Our Circle of Care (Our Team)
Registered Indigenous Professionals: Our team consists of registered Indigenous social workers, psychotherapists, and counsellors.
Holistic & Clinical Approaches: We braid clinical modalities (CBT, trauma-informed care) with holistic and traditional wellness practices.
Lived Experience: Our team shares a cultural understanding that fosters trust and removes barriers to care.
Emergency Response Services (Delivered Virtually)
Immediate Crisis Support: Prompt access to 1-on-1 confidential sessions (video or phone) for individuals needing to talk.
Individual Counselling: Safe and private support for youth, adults, and Elders to process anxiety, grief, and stress.
Facilitated Group Sessions: Virtual support circles for families or community groups to share experiences and build collective strength.
Leadership & Responder Support: Confidential debriefing and support for Chiefs, Council, health staff, and front-line emergency workers.
Mental Wellness Workshops: On-demand virtual workshops tailored to the crisis (e.g., "Coping with Evacuation Stress," "Supporting Our Children Through Crisis").
The Noojimo Advantage in a Crisis
Immediate Deployment: As a virtual team, we are "on-site" as soon as we are activated—no travel or logistical delays.
Cultural Safety: We provide a safe space where community members can speak with an Indigenous professional who understands their context without judgment.
Reduces Local Burden: We offer external surge capacity, allowing local health teams to focus on critical on-the-ground tasks.
Continuity of Care: We can transition individuals to long-term, NIHB-funded counselling (up to 22 hours/year) for ongoing support after the immediate crisis has passed.
